The Kitchen Leader position at Chipotle presents a dynamic opportunity for individuals passionate about food quality, team leadership, and customer service. The role is primarily focused on managing the kitchen team and ensuring that all food prepared meets Chipotle’s high standards of quality and safety. As a Kitchen Leader, you will oversee cooking procedures, ensure proper inventory management, and maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment condition. You will serve as a role model for crew members, training and developing them to eventually take on leadership roles themselves within the kitchen. This position places a strong emphasis on teamwork and cooperation between back of house and front of house crew to deliver a seamless and excellent customer experience. The role requires active participation during shifts, multitasking to complete necessary duties, and pitching in wherever needed to support the team. Kitchen Leaders are responsible not only for the quality of food preparation but also for adherence to strict safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with food safety standards. The position also requires completing documentation such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and managing inventory rotation to minimize waste.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
