Job Description

INDAY is a vibrant and growing restaurant brand headquartered in New York City, known for serving modern Indian cuisine deeply rooted in warmth, care, and hospitality. Founded on the principles of good karma hospitality, INDAY emphasizes taking care of its guests, teammates, and craft every day, building a community where quality food and excellent service thrive together. With a strong presence across New York City, INDAY aims to deliver an exceptional dining experience through its thoughtfully prepared dishes and a welcoming atmosphere. The company fosters a culture of respect, learning, and growth among its team members, making it an empowering place to work for culinary professionals and hospitality enthusiasts alike.

The role of the Kitchen Manager at INDAY is crucial as the second in command in the kitchen, tasked with leading back-of-house operations and maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and kitchen cleanliness. This role is focused on the execution of culinary standards and the training and development of kitchen team members rather than responsibilities such as scheduling or hiring. The ideal candidate is an experienced and enthusiastic kitchen leader with a passion for quality food and a desire to grow with the brand. This full-time position offers a competitive pay rate of $20-24 per hour and comes with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, commuter benefits, free meals, and career growth opportunities.

As Kitchen Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping the culinary experience at INDAY by ensuring every dish served meets the highest standards for taste, consistency, and presentation. You will lead by example on the line and in prep areas, coaching and cultivating a kitchen environment that is respectful, calm, and committed to continuous learning in alignment with INDAY’s core values. The role requires consistency in recipe execution, attention to detail in food preparation, and the ability to maintain an efficient and organized kitchen operation. You will oversee day-to-day activities including inventory management, ordering, and compliance with health and safety standards.

INDAY values real team leadership and personal development. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager to train and mentor kitchen staff, providing real-time feedback and fostering the development of future kitchen leaders. This role also supports teamwork by communicating clearly during service and assisting other back-of-house members as needed. Your commitment to quality and professionalism will directly impact the restaurant’s reputation and the satisfaction of both guests and team members alike.

Overall, this is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and inclusive food company that prioritizes employee well-being, supports educational development with offerings like English classes, and maintains a vibrant workplace culture. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can lead with passion and purpose, INDAY’s Kitchen Manager position offers a meaningful career path filled with growth and fulfillment.
