The GIANT Company is a prominent retail grocery chain known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and community engagement. Operating in several states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and New Jersey, The GIANT Company has established itself as a trusted provider of fresh food, groceries, and a variety of household necessities. This company is not just a retailer but a community builder that values diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. Their stores aim to provide a welcoming environment where team members can thrive, learn, and contribute to making their communities healthier and stronger. With a focus on teamwork, integrity, and innovation, The GIANT Company encourages employees to share ideas and take pride in their work while treating customers like neighbors and friends. They are dedicated to maintaining an inclusive workplace where every team member is valued and supported in growth opportunities. The GIANT Company’s culture is built around four core values: caring for each other, demonstrating courage in work, acting with integrity, collaborating effectively, and embracing humor to create a positive work atmosphere. Employment at The GIANT Company typically includes roles offering competitive wages and benefits, advocating personal and professional development for team members across all levels of the organization.
The role being described is within the prepared foods section of The GIANT Company’s retail store operations, specifically focused on deli, sandwich, and hot food preparation. This position involves making sandwiches, subs, roasting and frying chicken, heating soup, making pizza, and transferring deli foods to display cases while ensuring compliance with plan-o-gram (POG) standards and food safety procedures. This position is critical to delivering fresh, quality food products to customers daily and requires strong attention to detail, food safety awareness, and excellent customer service skills. The team member will be responsible for managing production planning, reviewing invoices, preparing food according to standard operating procedures, labeling and merchandising items, and cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and equipment to maintain a safe and appetizing environment. The role also involves tracking product loss, training other team members, and supporting merchandising programs such as grab-and-go sections and hot and cold food plan-o-grams.
This position demands physical stamina, as it includes carrying heavy items like cases of chicken, standing and walking for long periods, and working with equipment such as ovens, fryers, and slicers. Safety is a paramount concern in this role, reflected in the adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements including cut-resistant gloves, lockout/tagout protocols, and confined space training. The ideal candidate is both physically capable and mentally attentive, capable of following detailed instructions while providing excellent customer service and teamwork. The GIANT Company offers a purposeful career path where employees can grow, learn new skills, and make invaluable connections within the community. As a member of The GIANT Company team, you will join in a mission to connect families and communities through quality food and outstanding service, fostering a healthier future for all.
