Job Description

Stahl Junior High is an educational institution dedicated to providing quality education and a supportive learning environment for junior high students. As part of its commitment to student well-being and daily operations, Stahl Junior High employs a variety of support staff, including those in food service roles, to ensure smooth and safe food handling and distribution. The school prioritizes not only the academic development of its students but also their overall health and nutrition, which is supported by a competent and dedicated food service team.

The Kitchen Helper position at Stahl Junior High is a vital role within the food service department. This role is classified under Food Service, Level B, and is designed to provide essential assistance during meal preparations and service times. The Kitchen Helper supports the kitchen staff by maintaining cleanliness, preparing and handling food items, and ensuring compliance with all food safety requirements. This role does not include a meal break due to the short shift duration.

This job is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and possess a passion for contributing to a safe and effective kitchen environment in a school setting. The employment is part-time but comes with structured scheduling that supports work-life balance.

Employment for this role requires a Washington State Food and Beverage Worker's Permit, which guarantees the employee is trained and certified in proper food handling and safety practices. Additionally, after hiring, a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance is mandatory to ensure the safety and security of the students and staff within the school environment.

Stahl Junior High offers a structured and supportive work environment for kitchen helpers, including pathways for current food service employees to apply internally. For external candidates, including current food service substitutes, Stahl Junior High facilitates an application process through the Frontline applicant system, emphasizing prompt and professional communication with references to expedite hiring. The salary and benefits follow the agreed Food Service Employees-PSE agreements, salary schedules, and calendar, providing transparency and fairness in compensation.

By joining Stahl Junior High as a Kitchen Helper, employees become an integral part of a dedicated team contributing directly to the students' daily nutrition and overall school experience. The role offers a steady short-shift schedule that is manageable and consistent, which can suit individuals balancing other commitments. Moreover, employees have access to the benefits negotiated in employee agreements, which support their health and well-being while serving the school community.
