With a mission to foster productive and satisfying lives for these community members, Interim aims to create environments where people with mental health challenges can live, work, learn, and participate fully in society. Headquartered in Monterey, California, Interim operates a variety of programs focused on support, housing, and community integration, emphasizing dignity, respect, and empowerment. The organization values diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that their services and employment practices uphold equal opportunity principles.

The Kitchen Coordinator role at Interim is a vital position within their supportive residential programs. This part-time, non-exempt role, offering between 20 hours per week with an hourly wage ranging from $25.50 to $33.21 depending on education and experience, is pivotal in providing nutritious, home-style meals to approximately 30 residents. The ideal candidate will manage both the kitchen and dining area, orchestrating food preparation and service while fostering an environment of collaboration and learning. Responsibilities include coordinating shopping for ingredients, maximizing the use of community resources to minimize costs, and training kitchen assistants and residents in food preparation and nutrition. The Kitchen Coordinator is expected to create meals emphasizing whole, non-institutional foods, promoting healthy eating habits tailored to the needs of individuals with mental health challenges. Working closely with residents, the Coordinator supports their involvement in meal planning and preparation, encouraging life skills development in a safe and supportive setting.

Beyond food preparation, the Kitchen Coordinator ensures the kitchen facility maintains cleanliness and hygiene meeting health and safety standards. This includes ongoing monitoring of food storage and adherence to sanitation protocols. The role demands strong organizational skills, creativity, empathy, and flexibility, as well as the ability to maintain professional boundaries while working in close interpersonal relationships. The Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Program Director and works onsite at the assigned location, playing a key role in enhancing the quality of life and independence of residents through effective meal service and kitchen management.

Interim offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, including competitive compensation, tuition and clinical training reimbursement, loan repayment programs, generous health, vision, dental, and life insurance coverage, a 403b retirement plan with employer matching, paid time off accruals, professional development opportunities, and flexible work schedules. This position not only provides an opportunity for meaningful work but also supports work-life balance within a family-centered focus.
