Job Description

Smashburger is a rapidly expanding fast casual restaurant chain known for its commitment to delivering gourmet, handcrafted burgers made from fresh, never frozen 100% beef. Smashburger is currently hiring Kitchen Cooks and Prep Personnel to join their energetic back of house team at the Tampa location. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards of food preparation and cleanliness that customers expect when dining at Smashburger. Employees in this role will carry out a range of responsibilities including preparing and cooking food according to established menu and recipe standards, maintaining sanitation of food preparation areas and equipment, and adhering to food safety guidelines. The successful candidates will be enthusiastic individuals who bring positive energy, a strong work ethic, and a team-focused mindset to the kitchen environment.

In addition to their kitchen duties, team members are expected to engage with guests by maintaining a friendly environment and ensuring that each customer’s experience is enjoyable. This includes greeting guests, efficiently processing orders through Smashburger’s KVS system, responding appropriately to guest concerns, and upholding company standards of service and cleanliness. The role also requires flexibility in work hours, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as the physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle lifting tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move boxes or equipment as required
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food preparation or fast casual restaurant environment is an advantage
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for customer service
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain company standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food according to Smashburger prep, menu and recipe standards
  • Clean and sanitize food preparation equipment and work areas
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest
  • Maintain an awareness of all menu items and have solid product knowledge
  • Accurately and efficiently process information through KVS system and safeguard company assets
  • Respond appropriately to guest concerns and communicate requests to management
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, floors, windows, restrooms, tables, chairs, counters and equipment
  • Check orders for accuracy and portion control
  • Deliver food to guests with an upbeat, positive attitude if necessary
  • Answer company phone according to standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members and guests
  • Operate all equipment necessary to perform job duties
  • Availability to work varied hours and days, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, move and handle boxes which may require lifting
