Job Description
T&T Supermarket is a leading supermarket chain specializing in Asian groceries, with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and exceptional customer service. Founded with a focus on delivering authentic Asian food products, T&T Supermarket has grown to become one of the most recognized and trusted supermarket brands serving communities with diverse culinary preferences. The company operates multiple stores and central kitchens that provide fresh food items such as BBQ, hot foods, dim sum, and sushi, catering to a wide array of tastes and dietary requirements. T&T Supermarket is dedicated to maintaining high standards of food safety, operational excellence, and employee well-being, making it a preferred employer in the retail and food service sectors.
The role of Cook at T&T Supermarket, reporting to the Head Cook or their delegate, is an essential position that supports food preparation activities at both the store and central kitchen levels. This position involves preparing ingredients through tasks like chopping, cutting, marinating, and peeling while closely adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent product quality and food safety standards. The Cook is responsible for the proper receipt, storage, and handling of food products, including verifying quantity and quality upon delivery, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding hygienic kitchen conditions. Key responsibilities include managing individual workstation cleanliness, ensuring proper sanitation in compliance with food safety regulations, and assisting in the inventory and storage of incoming stock according to First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles.
In this role, candidates will be expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations and food product preparation, including experience working with BBQ, hot foods, dim sum, sushi, and other semi-finished products. With a focus on health and safety certifications such as Food Safe Certification, this position requires flexibility to work various shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays to meet business demand. Additionally, proficiency in English and a good command of Chinese languages such as Cantonese or Mandarin is considered an advantage given the multicultural customer base and team interactions.
T&T Supermarket values its employees and offers a competitive benefits package including paid holidays, premium pay for holiday work hours, medical and dental coverage, life and accident insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Staff enjoy perks such as paid training, staff meal subsidies, in-store discounts, birthday celebrations, and opportunities to engage in recreational activities and long-service awards. Shift work is required and the company emphasizes a safe working environment through stringent health and safety policies across all locations.
Overall, the Cook position at T&T Supermarket offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team in a well-established and rapidly growing supermarket chain. Employees in this role will gain valuable experience in professional food preparation and kitchen management while working in a supportive environment that prioritizes food safety, quality, and employee development.
