This Cook position reports directly to the Head Cook or their delegate and plays a crucial role in assisting with food preparation tasks at either an assigned store or the central kitchen. The responsibilities include chopping, cutting, marinating, peeling, and preparing ingredients prior to cooking. The Cook also performs quality checks on received food products, storing them properly to maintain freshness and safety. Maintaining kitchen sanitation, ensuring cleanliness of utensils, tools, containers, and food storage areas, as well as proper handling of waste materials, are vital components of the role. The Cook is accountable for managing their station efficiently, ensuring all items are ready for use during shifts, following recipes, ingredient specifications, and adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent food quality and safety.

In this role, the Cook must practice and uphold food safety standards, including strict adherence to temperature controls, FIFO (First In, First Out) protocols, and overall quality assurance in line with the Head Cook’s directives. The position requires working various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings, reflecting the dynamic nature of the food industry. Effective communication in English is required, with proficiency in Chinese languages considered an advantage. Job Requirements

  • Possess 3 years and above relevant experience
  • Possess knowledge in workplace health and safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification requires)
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
  • Possess basic computer skills in MS Office

Job Qualifications

  • Possess knowledge, skills and prior experience in making kitchen products (include BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi and/or others semi-finished products)
  • Possess 3 years and above relevant experience
  • Possess knowledge in workplace health and safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification requires)
  • Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous
  • Good organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
  • Possess basic computer skills in MS Office

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming stock
  • Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood
  • Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in the appropriate conditions
  • Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
  • Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantity, quality, cooking time as stated in the SOPs are being executed
  • Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Head Cook and Food safety
  • Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
  • Ensure that food is properly stored and always handled by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment, and tools maintenance
  • ensure garbage, recycled materials and other disposable items are handled timely and properly
