The available position is for a Child Nutrition Cashier/Kitchen Assistant who will work as a floater across various school locations within District 197 during the 2026-2027 school year. This role requires a dependable individual who can adapt to different school environments and effectively assist in multiple facets of the food service operation. The position is scheduled on all student contact days and involves working approximately six hours per day, with shifts starting from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM and ending between 1:30 PM and 2:15 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid break. Salary for this position ranges from $19.04 to $22.03 per hour depending on the school level assignment, with slightly higher wages allocated for middle and high school locations. The role is vital to the daily operations of the Child Nutrition Department and requires someone who can maintain a professional presence while delivering excellent service to students, staff, and the broader school community.

Job Duties
- Assist in forecasting daily meal needs and communicates accordingly with person in charge
- Assist with preparing and serving meals for students, staff and special functions
- Effectively operates the Point of Sale System, handles money, and prepares bank deposits
- Ensures that each reimbursable meal sold meets USDA requirements
- Performs a variety of kitchen cleaning duties
- Assist with setting up serving lines and serves meals according to meal patterns
- Projects a positive and professional image of themselves, their school and the Child Nutrition Dept. to all customers, staff and parents
