Job Description

Upper Crust Food Service is a premier food service company dedicated to serving Sororities and Fraternities with a commitment to freshness, quality, variety, and unmatched customer service. Established with a vision to address the common challenges faced by fraternity and sorority houses, Upper Crust Food Service has built a reputable brand by offering consistent and professional kitchen services. Unlike many service providers, Upper Crust Food Service focuses heavily on reliability and culinary excellence, ensuring that every meal delivered meets the highest standards. Their chefs prepare tens of thousands of meals weekly for students across the country, making them a trusted partner in collegiate dining. The company prides itself on fostering strong relationships with clients and maintaining a professional yet personable approach to food preparation and delivery. Their emphasis on great food and personal service has allowed the company to grow steadily while staying true to its founding principles.

The Kitchen Assistant role at Upper Crust Food Service is a vital position that supports the culinary team in day-to-day operations. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely under the guidance of the Head Chef and Sous Chef to prepare and execute food items, ensuring every dish meets company standards. In addition to food preparation, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment is paramount. This includes cleaning grills, fryers, ovens, and all kitchen utensils and equipment. You'll also assist in restocking supplies at serving stations, refrigerators, and cupboards, supporting the overall kitchen workflow. This role demands a professional and positive attitude, as it requires teamwork and interaction with coworkers and customers alike. Effective communication with management through calls, emails, and texts is also an essential part of the job, fostering a transparent and efficient work environment.

This opportunity is perfect for candidates who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume kitchen settings, particularly those with experience in full-service restaurant environments. The position offers hourly pay ranging from $15 to $19 per hour for US National candidates, reflecting the importance of the role within the company. Upper Crust Food Service values individuals who are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and passionate about delivering excellent service in a team-oriented culture.

The work environment may be loud and busy with various kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp knives, slippery floors, and exposure to cleaning chemicals. Candidates must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds when necessary. While prior certification in food safety handler and sanitation is preferred, the company offers flexibility for candidates to obtain certification within 30 days of employment. Upper Crust Food Service is committed to equal employment opportunities and upholds a strict non-discrimination policy across all employment terms and practices. This role embodies both the challenges and rewards of working in a professional culinary operation dedicated to collegiate sorority and fraternity food service excellence.
