Job Description
Upper Crust Food Service is a premier food service provider dedicated to serving Sororities and Fraternities across the country. Known for our commitment to freshness, quality, variety, and exceptional customer service, we have established ourselves as a trusted partner in the collegiate dining industry. Starting with a vision to address the inconsistency and lack of professionalism often found in fraternity and sorority house kitchens, Upper Crust Food Service has grown impressively. From humble beginnings, we have maintained a strong focus on delivering great food paired with personalized service, which has become the hallmark of our brand. Today, our talented chefs prepare tens of thousands of meals weekly, serving students across numerous campuses nationwide. This reach and dedication underscore our position as a leader in the niche of fraternity and sorority catering.
The Kitchen Assistant role at Upper Crust Food Service is integral to supporting our culinary team and ensuring that all food preparation operations run smoothly and efficiently. Kitchen Assistants work directly under the guidance of the Head Chef and Sous Chef, following precise instructions to help prepare and execute meals with consistency and excellence. This role requires a hands-on approach to maintaining kitchen hygiene by ensuring that all kitchen and dining areas remain clean, sanitary, and well-organized. The role also involves managing the kitchen supplies and equipment – from stocking shelves and refrigerators to assisting with movements of deliveries and upkeep of cooking tools and utensils.
This position is more than just food preparation. It requires fostering a positive and professional environment, both among coworkers and with our customers, reflecting the company’s core values of respect, teamwork, and excellent service. Communication is a vital component of the job, as regular updates with management need to be maintained through calls, emails, and texts to ensure workflow coordination and adherence to company standards. Despite the demanding nature of the kitchen environment—which includes exposure to high heat, sharp tools, and busy conditions—this role offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing organization that values each employee’s contributions. The role is designed to cultivate skills in food safety, kitchen operations, and teamwork, making it ideal for individuals looking to advance their culinary careers in a supportive and established company.
