Job Description
The hiring establishment is a residential community or supportive living environment focused on creating a safe, clean, and welcoming space for its residents. The organization is committed to wellness and recovery, encouraging not only the residents but also the staff to model and maintain positive health behaviors. The nature of the work environment is a climate controlled office with moderate noise levels typical of residential living, such as multiple conversations and intercom announcements. The organization values safety and proper use of equipment, ensuring that its team members uphold high standards in cleanliness, sanitation, and property upkeep. This commitment is reflected in the required certifications such as a food handler's permit and a focus on safety in performing various tasks around the premises.
The position available is for a part-time Kitchen Assistant who will work scheduled shifts from Friday through Monday, 2:00pm to 7:00pm. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas, contributing to the overall health and satisfaction of residents and staff. The Kitchen Assistant's responsibilities include washing dishes, wiping tables, sweeping and mopping floor areas, and taking out garbage after meal services. Beyond these core duties, the assistant is also tasked with disinfecting high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs and assisting maintenance staff with unit turnovers by cleaning, moving furniture, and removing trash from vacant units.
The role demands a flexible work schedule, physical stamina, and an attentive attitude toward maintaining sanitation standards. The Kitchen Assistant must be able to communicate effectively, follow safety guidelines rigorously, and model recovery and wellness ideals prominently. A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as a current and valid food handler's permit. Prior kitchen experience is preferred, highlighting the importance the organization places on familiarity with food safety and cleanliness practices.
This role supports the broader mission of the organization to promote hygiene, safety, and recovery within the community it serves. Accurate reporting of work hours and completed tasks is also vital to ensure efficient operation under the supervision of the Front Desk Supervisor or Team Leader. The work setting is safe from extreme environmental conditions and requires adherence to proper lifting techniques and safety precautions, reinforcing the organization's focus on the well-being of its employees and residents.
In summary, this Kitchen Assistant position is ideal for motivated individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about maintaining a supportive living environment through diligent housekeeping and kitchen assistance. It offers the chance to be an integral part of a caring community that values health, safety, and wellness for all its members.
