Job Description

Lineage Meals is a small family-owned business located in San Diego that specializes in providing organic, nose-to-tail, scratch-made daily school lunches to children. Dedicated to high-quality, nutritious meals, Lineage Meals focuses on sourcing organic ingredients and using traditional cooking methods to create nutrient-dense lunches that nourish children and support their wellbeing. Founded on values such as kindness, integrity, teamwork, and creating positive experiences for students and families, this company stands out as a mission-driven establishment that emphasizes both quality food and community impact. This opportunity offers employment as a part-time Kitchen & Lunch Service Coordinator, with a consistent and manageable daytime schedule from Monday to Thursday, approximately from 9 AM to 2 PM, totaling around 18 to 20 hours per week. Compensation ranges from $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience, along with benefits like school holidays and breaks off, and a clear path for growth into larger leadership roles within the company.

As a Kitchen & Lunch Service Coordinator at Lineage Meals, you will play an integral role in preparing, transporting, and serving organic school lunches daily. This role is especially suited to someone who is passionate about cooking, nutrition, and community engagement, as well as eager to develop culinary skills by trying new recipes each day in a friendly, supportive environment. Responsibilities include assisting with kitchen prep, cooking, and cleaning, packing and transporting lunches to local schools, setting up lunch service, plating food, checking students in, assisting with meal distribution, and maintaining an organized and efficient serving line. The position also involves light cleanup, dishwashing, and helping with inventory and kitchen organization as needed. This multifaceted role offers the chance to work closely with an experienced chef who brings three decades of professional culinary experience and a rich background in blending international flavors with sustainable cooking practices.

The Chef behind Lineage Meals emphasizes using as many cuts of the animals purchased as possible to minimize waste and elevate school lunch cuisine by melding popular dishes with lesser-known ones sharing similar flavor profiles. This role promises a unique learning opportunity where you will receive hands-on instruction and mentorship from an expert chef who has worked in prestigious kitchens, luxury hotels, and with esteemed chefs nationwide. This role demands reliability, punctuality, a friendly and professional demeanor, especially when interacting with children and school staff, as well as the ability to stay calm under pressure. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and having a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, as the role involves transporting meals to schools.

Lineage Meals specifically values team members who are organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and committed to delivering exceptional food service within a mission-driven environment. Previous experience in food service, catering, or restaurants is required, with school or hospitality experience considered a plus. If you are excited about community-oriented work, passionate about food and nutrition, and eager to make a tangible difference in the lives of children through elevated, healthy meals, this position offers a rewarding opportunity for personal growth and meaningful impact.
