Job Description

Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. (SCIHP) is a respected community organization dedicated to providing comprehensive health and wellness services to the Native American population in Sonoma County, California. As an established non-profit, SCIHP embraces culturally sensitive care and promotes a healthy lifestyle through various programs that support physical, nutritional, and emotional well-being. The organization values respect, inclusivity, and dedication to serving elders and tribal members, ensuring that their unique cultural heritage is honored and preserved. At the heart of SCIHP's mission is the commitment to elevate the quality of life for Native Americans through accessible and compassionate healthcare and support services. SCIHP operates under principles that emphasize community engagement and the protection of cultural identity, establishing themselves as a pillar within the Sonoma County area for Native Americans seeking trusted health services and assistance.

The Kitchen Aide/Senior Site Transporter position is a vital role within the Senior Nutrition Program at SCIHP, designed to support the well-being of elder community members. This full-time role demands a compassionate individual who will assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals while maintaining strict standards of sanitation and safety. Beyond kitchen responsibilities, this position entails safely transporting elderly program participants using agency vehicles, providing friendly and reliable service that ensures their comfort and dignity. Working under the guidance of the Title VI Manager, the candidate will contribute to creating a welcoming environment at the senior site and help maintain a clean, organized kitchen and dining space.

The successful applicant will hold a high school diploma or GED and possess a California Food Handler Card and CPR certification or be able to obtain these credentials within specified periods. Strong time management skills, the ability to lift heavy items, and standing for extended periods are essential physical requirements. The role emphasizes professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to all county and state food safety regulations, reflecting SCIHP's commitment to high-quality service. The chosen candidate must also maintain a clean driving record and demonstrate a commitment to safety when transporting elders, adhering to traffic laws and organizational protocols at all times.

SCIHP values employees who are culturally sensitive and deeply respectful of Native American traditions and history. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a role that combines nutrition, transportation, and community service, promoting elder health and autonomy. Applicants will join a supportive work environment that fosters growth, ethical responsibility, and cultural appreciation, making a meaningful difference in the lives of elders within the Native American community of Sonoma County.
