This part-time Food Service Assistant position offers an hourly wage between $20.76 and $24.68, scheduled approximately 25 hours per week for 50 weeks annually, with shifts running from 7:15 am to 12:45 pm. The role is centered in the MAAC Foothill Center and seeks a dedicated individual to support food preparation, distribution, and sanitation within a high-volume kitchen environment. Reporting under supervision, the Food Service Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of meal services, including the preparation and delivery of meals and snacks, meticulous maintenance of kitchen cleanliness, and proper food handling to meet safety standards.
Candidates will be responsible for assisting with food service tasks such as cutting, trimming, and preparing food items; managing inventory and documentation; maintaining compliance with food safety regulations; and supporting kitchen staff in cleaning and sanitizing duties. Additionally, the role includes transporting food orders to various sites utilizing provided vehicles, thus requiring a valid driver’s license and an ability to maintain vehicle inspection standards. Beyond these operational duties, the position involves interaction with families and children during meal times, supporting a positive social and educational atmosphere.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in kitchen or food service environments, with a strong understanding of food production and sanitation procedures. This role requires physical stamina to stand, walk, stoop, and lift items up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- six months experience working in a kitchen, restaurant or food service facility
- working knowledge of large-scale food production and sanitation
- basic literacy skills including ability to use computer for records
- ability to problem solve and maintain meal schedules
- obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers certifications
- bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- physical ability to stand, stoop, walk and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
- valid California driver’s license
- daily use and maintenance of a personal insured vehicle
- pass physical examination, TB clearance and drug screen
- pass background, education, DMV, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks
Job Qualifications
