Job Description
The Senior Citizens' Center is a community-focused establishment dedicated to providing nutritious meals and a welcoming environment for senior members of the community. The center operates various nutrition programs aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of older adults through quality food services. It is a vital place where senior citizens can come together, enjoy meals, and engage in social activities that promote their overall health and quality of life. The center prides itself on maintaining high standards in food preparation, kitchen hygiene, and customer service to ensure a wholesome dining experience for its patrons. Commitment to community service and dedication to the nutritional needs of seniors are key values upheld by the Senior Citizens' Center.
This role is a temporary or seasonal position based on fiscal year 2026-2027 budget approval and is essential to the smooth operation of the kitchen within the nutrition program. Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, the position primarily involves performing manual tasks connected with kitchen operations, including cleaning and maintenance activities. The work supports food preparation and serving by ensuring that kitchen equipment, dining areas, and utensils are hygienically maintained. The role is ideal for individuals looking for experience in a commercial kitchen environment, especially as a dishwasher or kitchen assistant, although previous experience is preferred but not mandatory. Employees will engage in routine tasks that enhance the overall efficiency of kitchen workflows, working closely with other kitchen staff to maintain cleanliness and order. Additionally, the role fulfills important physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and repetitive motions, suitable for candidates prepared for medium-level physical activity. The temporary nature of the position means it does not qualify for benefits; however, it provides valuable experience and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community. Prospective employees should be prepared to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED shortly after hire, and demonstrate the ability to follow detailed instructions while cooperating effectively with team members. This job offers a practical and hands-on introduction to kitchen operations within a supportive and community-oriented environment.
