This job opening is for a kitchen position at a corporate location of Schlotzsky’s. The kitchen team member is responsible for multiple preparation stations including vegetables, meats, cheeses, salads, soups, pizzas, and bakery items. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate certain kitchen equipment
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable of procedures for all kitchen and guest service stations
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift a full 33-gallon trash bag from the dumpster
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • Ability to bend, stretch, reach, push, and kneel to access certain products or clean certain areas of the restaurant
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions
  • Ability to perform repetitive cutting motions with a sharp knife
  • Ability to handle hot foods by hand for several seconds at a time during a scheduled shift

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous food preparation or kitchen experience is an advantage
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions precisely
  • Strong attention to detail and emphasis on hygiene and food safety
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Capability to maintain a positive attitude even under pressure
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation procedures
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting, standing, and repetitive movements

Job Duties

  • Follow preparation standards for vegetables, meats, and cheeses and prepare quantities shown on daily PAR sheets
  • Use gloves when slicing meats
  • Cover, label, and store all vegetables, meats, and cheeses at appropriate temperatures
  • Prepare all salad mixes according to recipe standards and procedures
  • Prepare all soups according to recipe standards and procedures
  • Slice buns according to established procedures and use gloves when performing this function
  • Clean preparation stations according to safety and sanitation guidelines at the end of each shift
  • Follow recipes and read customer tickets to accurately prepare all orders
  • Work at a pace to maintain established restaurant service speed guidelines
  • Maintain a clean workstation at all times
  • Follow proper baking procedures for all breads according to recipe
  • Follow bakery production sheet
  • Maintain proper weights and testing procedures per recipe
  • Maintain production timing according to daily PARs
  • Prepare bakery products to meet proper shelf life
  • Supervise parking lot cleanliness and ensure debris is collected
  • Clean patio tables and chairs
  • Empty external trash receptacles as needed
  • Consult with management on customer issues
  • Maintain a positive working relationship and treat all employees with respect
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a positive attitude and follow management instructions at all times
  • Comply with strict safety and sanitation standards
  • Arrive to work on time for each scheduled shift
  • Arrive and leave work meeting all uniform and personal grooming standards
