Within the vast portfolio of Marriott brands, Westin stands out as a wellness-focused hospitality brand committed to helping guests enhance their well-being during travel. Westin promotes an atmosphere that encourages guests to be their best selves by embracing health, activity, and mindfulness. The company supports its employees in adopting and promoting wellness practices both professionally and personally.
The role of Recreation Attendant at Westin within Marriott International is a dynamic and integral position centered around enhancing guests' leisure experiences on the property. This role serves as the primary resource for all recreational activities offered, such as swimming pools, beaches, entertainment zones, game rooms, fitness centers, and child activity centers. The Recreation Attendant is responsible for providing guests with comprehensive information about available recreational facilities and actively encouraging guest participation in these activities by recruiting, registering, and scheduling attendees. A key objective of this position is to cultivate a fun, safe, and relaxing environment where guests feel welcomed and engaged.
The Recreation Attendant promotes facility rules and regulations to protect guest safety and welfare, observing activity areas closely and responding promptly to emergencies in alignment with established local operating procedures. This role also involves providing upfront cashier services for facilities that include point-of-sale transactions, supporting private functions with group activities and events, and assisting guests with disabilities to ensure an inclusive experience. The incumbent is trained to recognize situations where guests may be unable to safely participate in activities and must promptly inform supervisors and managers in such cases.
Additionally, the Recreation Attendant plays a vital part in facility upkeep by cleaning and maintaining recreational equipment and spaces. They are responsible for accident and injury reporting, completing required safety training and certifications, and consistently adhering to company policies and procedures. The role demands excellent customer service skills, including welcoming and acknowledging guests according to company standards, anticipating guest needs, expressing genuine appreciation, and communicating clearly and professionally. It also requires proficiency in processing transactions, ensuring quality assurance compliance, and performing various physical activities like standing, walking, lifting, and maneuvering in challenging environments for extended periods.
The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about wellness and active living, embodying the brand’s mission through their optimism, adventurous spirit, and dedication to well-being. Marriott International offers an inclusive, diverse, and supportive workplace where Recreation Attendants can thrive and contribute to the thriving guest experience at Westin. This full-time position requires candidates to hold valid CPR and First Aid certifications as well as any applicable local or state certifications related to recreational equipment and safety. While prior experience is not mandatory, the role demands a high school diploma or equivalent and a commitment to fostering a safe, enjoyable recreational environment.
