The Kidney Territory Account Manager (KTAM) position at Vertex plays a critical role in advancing the company's mission to improve the lives of patients with kidney and renal diseases. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with Health Care Professionals (HCPs), particularly nephrologists and specialty kidney clinics, to effectively communicate complex disease and product knowledge. The KTAM develops and implements strategic business plans to navigate the unique market dynamics within rare and complex kidney disease states. Reporting to a Regional Field Leader, the KTAM must demonstrate excellent judgment, a strong work ethic, and a passion for improving patient care. This role requires deep expertise in clinical attributes related to kidney disease, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to meet both territory and national performance goals.

The position demands a thorough understanding of market dynamics, stakeholder mapping, referral networks, access challenges, and barriers in the kidney disease treatment landscape. The KTAM serves as a key resource for healthcare professionals, delivering education on disease states and appropriate product use. A focus on ethical behavior, business integrity, and adherence to regulatory guidelines is paramount. The KTAM will also actively participate in meetings, projects, and management requests, contributing to innovative solutions and continuous learning within the organization.

Compensation for this role ranges from $133,600 to $200,400, complemented by eligibility for an annual bonus and equity awards. Candidates must be prepared to travel extensively, up to 80% of the time, and meet specific territorial residency requirements. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of pharmaceutical field sales experience
  • experience in kidney/renal, rare disease, or specialty biotech markets
  • product launch experience preferred
  • must live and work within the territory
  • valid driver’s license in good standing
  • ability to travel up to 80% including overnight travel between 10-30%
  • successful completion of training, background screens, drug testing, and vaccinations
  • willing to work after hours as required by business needs

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

Job Duties

  • Establishes meaningful and professional relationships with nephrologists and related HCPs
  • serves as a territory account manager for specialty kidney clinics
  • develops and maintains expertise on the disease and the product’s clinical attributes as well as patient unmet needs to educate healthcare professionals on product use in appropriate patients
  • develops a deep understanding of assigned physicians, territory and market dynamics, stakeholder mapping, key decision maker relationship management, patient protocols, referral network navigation, access, and drivers and barriers
  • responsible for individual performance at the territory level and contribute to area and national team performance
  • works collaboratively across functional areas to achieve common goals and address challenges
  • attends and participates in meetings, and takes on projects and other duties as requested by management
  • exercises sound judgment and adheres to relevant regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies
