Village Veterinary Hospital located in Bosque Farms, New Mexico, just 20 minutes south of Albuquerque, is a well-established mixed animal veterinary practice deeply rooted in the local community. The hospital maintains a loyal clientele that values the comprehensive and compassionate care provided by the clinic's experienced team. This veterinary hospital offers full-service treatment for a variety of animals, including small animals, equine, bovine, sheep, pigs, llamas, and alpacas. Their services range from preventive medicine and dental cleanings to in-house laboratories, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasounds, house calls, and emergency surgical care. Village Veterinary Hospital operates Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with limited hours on Thursday and Saturday mornings, and is closed on Sundays and major holidays. The salary for the Veterinary Assistant position ranges from $14 to $18 per hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in veterinary or animal care preferred
- ability to handle animals safely
- physical ability to perform duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- dependable and reliable work ethic
- availability to work specified hospital hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Genuine love for dogs, cats, horses, cows and other pets
- ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for long shifts
- must be dependable and punctual
- available to work weekends and holidays
- previous experience in a boarding facility, shelter, or vet clinic is a plus but not required
Job Duties
- Feed and water animals according to schedules
- provide daily walks and exercise
- offer enrichment and socialization
- clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas
- observe animal behavior, appetite, and stool
- report any concerns or illnesses immediately
- safely handle, transport, and bathe pets
- assist with check-ins and check-outs
- strictly follow safety protocols for animal handling and infection control
- assist doctors and technicians in appointments when needed
