The Kalia Theater Group Sales Manager plays a pivotal role within this dynamic organization. This position is responsible for actively soliciting and securing group business and forging preferred partnerships for the Kalia Theater. The role demands meeting or exceeding sales solicitation and revenue objectives while creatively engaging with prospective clients through tours and site inspections. The Group Sales Manager will develop targeted lists of both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) clients, conduct thorough and professional site inspections emphasizing the theater’s key features and benefits, and support promotional initiatives to boost direct sales efforts. In addition, the manager oversees the management of confirmed groups from contract through event execution, handling detailed event management tasks to ensure successful outcomes.
Key to the success of this role is the ability to create, execute, and negotiate group contracts efficiently and assist in timely reporting and strategic planning discussions with the General Manager, demonstrating sound pricing acumen. The position requires gaining comprehensive knowledge of theater operations, including Food and Beverage services, Guest Services, and Reservations, as well as mastery of the company’s sales policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and consistency across the sales team.
The Group Sales Manager will manage the sales department within established budgets, initiate and follow up on sales leads, monitor key accounts, and evaluate market trends to identify new business opportunities. Utilizing the property’s computerized sales management system effectively is essential for managing business data, generating reports, blocking space, and building client accounts. Active involvement in community and professional associations to establish networking opportunities is also expected.
This is an onsite role requiring Hawaii hotel sales experience, highlighting the importance of local market knowledge. The ideal candidate is proficient in computer applications such as Windows and company-approved spreadsheet and word processing software. Effective verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking ability, customer service orientation, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are critical attributes for success. The position also requires consistent compliance with Highgate’s standards through dress code adherence, meeting attendance, and maintaining confidentiality. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Hawaii hotel sales experience essential
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Skilled in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Meet or exceed sales solicitation and revenue goals
- Invite prospective clients to the venue for tours and site inspections
- Create target lists of B to B and B to C prospective clients
- Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the theater with clients and partners, exhibiting key features and benefits of the theater
- Assist in implementing special promotions/incentives relating to direct sales segments, i.e. parties, sales blitzes, etc.
- Event manage definite groups from contract to event day of detailing
- Create, execute and negotiate group contracts
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
- Attend Group Business Review meeting with GM exhibiting strategic pricing acumen
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the theater, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
- Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
- Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget
- Initiate and follow up on leads
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market
- Use your property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts
- Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events
