Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher with a major in culinary arts or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the food service industry
  • Institutional or school nutrition experience preferred
  • Experience providing culinary training or coaching preferred
  • Valid Food Handler's Permit/license required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Must obtain ServSafe permit/license within 6 months of being hired
  • Must certify with the School Nutrition Association Level 2 or 3 within 2 years of being hired
  • Must have current knowledge of culinary techniques, recipe development, food safety, and sanitation
  • Must understand USDA child nutrition regulations and school food service operations

Job Duties

  • Develop and prepare nutritious and appealing menus and recipes that comply with USDA child nutrition regulations
  • Monitor and ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are rigorously followed in all food preparation areas
  • Provide culinary training, coaching, and support to child nutrition staff to enhance skills and operational efficiency
  • Oversee daily food production activities in accordance with quality standards and serve as a resource for problem-solving culinary challenges
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including obtaining and updating necessary certifications
  • Collaborate with department leaders and other stakeholders to improve nutrition programs and service delivery
  • Manage inventory control and ordering processes to ensure adequate supplies and minimize food waste
