This position is a part-time role with a requirement for weekend availability, designed for individuals who are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within food and beverage areas. The role involves fulfilling the daily sanitation needs of kitchens, banquet areas, and all food service spaces within the JW Marriott, Amway Grand Plaza, and the Courtyard by Marriott. AHC stewards are responsible for cleaning soiled kitchenware including pots, pans, silverware, glassware, and plates, using dishwashing machines or manual hand washing as needed. The stewarding team also ensures that all areas meet and maintain local health department regulations, along with adhering to the JW Marriott brand and quality assurance standards. In addition to cleaning duties, stewards play a vital role in supporting guest service by anticipating needs and striving to exceed guest expectations, thus contributing to the overall guest experience.

This position demands a strong sense of organization and a commitment to unwavering quality standards in cleanliness. Stewards must be diligent in completing daily sanitation tasks, including deep cleaning of kitchen floors, trash receptacle maintenance, and assisting in the upkeep of other kitchen support areas such as pantries and hallways. Furthermore, the role entails a collaborative team environment where stewarding staff participate in departmental meetings and daily rehearsals to discuss continuous improvement opportunities.

Stewards are expected to maintain a professional appearance, comply with safety practices to prevent injury, and handle hazardous substances according to regulatory guidelines. The job also involves setting up and breaking down dish machines, sorting and stacking dishes, assisting transportation of food and equipment for events, supporting concierge lounge service, and aiding culinary and banquet staff as necessary. Throughout all tasks, stewards uphold JW Marriott’s high guest service standards by providing attentive and courteous support.

The position requires physical stamina including the ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods, and occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Individuals suited to this role should be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining calm during periods of high demand or uncertainty. The stewarding role is essential in maintaining the reputation of AHC Hospitality properties by ensuring sanitary, orderly, and welcoming food and beverage areas for all guests and staff alike.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior experience in a full-service restaurant dishwashing environment preferred
  • Weekend availability is required
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Physical capability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow health department and brand sanitation standards
  • Commitment to professional appearance and attendance standards
  • Willingness to participate in meetings and training sessions
  • Compliance with safety practices and handling of hazardous substances
  • Ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor during high-pressure situations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in a full-service restaurant dishwashing or stewarding role preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform daily sanitation and cleaning of all food and beverage areas within AHC properties including JW Marriott, Amway Grand, and Courtyard by Marriott
  • Follow and maintain health department standards along with JW Marriott brand and quality assurance standards
  • Operate dishwashing machines and wash kitchenware by hand ensuring cleanliness and sanitation
  • Assist with transportation of food and equipment to event locations and concierge lounge
  • Support culinary, restaurant, and banquet staff as needed by running food, dishes, and equipment
  • Maintain kitchen and restaurant cleanliness including deep cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors
  • Communicate product needs, shortages, and equipment repairs promptly to supervisors
