The Culinary Specialist role at RIT Dining is a senior-level position classified as Operations, Administrative, Service, or Technical Support Level 3. This role demands considerable knowledge and skills in culinary environments and involves performing complex tasks that require troubleshooting and analysis. As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing hot and cold foods, ensuring food quality and safety standards, and assisting with sanitation and health compliance according to New York State, Monroe County, and university codes. Key responsibilities include washing produce, cutting ingredients, cooking various items such as burgers, chicken, eggs, and cold deli items, and maintaining sanitary kitchens by cleaning utensils and equipment. Additionally, you will prepare menu items following specific recipes provided by culinary leadership and help uphold a safe and hygienic food preparation environment.

Job Duties
- Washes produce, cuts ingredients, and prepares hot and cold foods
- ensures all food is of satisfactory quality and quantity, and is prepared, served, and stored at proper temperatures and times
- performs a variety of assigned cooking duties including short orders such as hamburgers, chicken, eggs, and other grill items, as well as cold foods for delicatessen/salad bar and compound salads
- assists in maintaining sanitation and health and safety standards, including proper labeling, rotation, and storage of food items
- prepares menu items according to product specifications and recipes provided by culinary leadership
- cleans and/or sanitizes cooking utensils, grills, ovens, hoods, and other kitchen equipment
- performs other duties as assigned
