Job Description
Woodcraft Rangers is a well-established nonprofit organization founded in 1922, located in Los Angeles, which has been dedicated to helping young people explore pathways to purposeful lives. The organization emphasizes a youth-led, inclusive, and holistic approach they call the Woodcraft Way, which focuses on developing the body, mind, spirit, and service. Through expanded learning opportunities from TK to 12th grade, Woodcraft Rangers serves over 30,000 youth annually across more than 160 Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, providing a variety of programs including before and after school services, specialty enrichment, summer learning, early childhood education, environmental and social justice initiatives, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization also offers Lifecraft, a program that supports the development of around 1,500 staff members with college and career advancement resources. The Junior Rangers Leader is a vital part of Woodcraft Rangers’ mission, focused on creating a fun and positive outdoor learning environment for TK and Junior Rangers participants. This part-time position, typically offering 20-25 hours a week with variable shifts including evenings and weekends, is located on-site across several locations including schools in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. The hourly pay range for this role is $21.50 to $25.70. Junior Rangers Leaders support clubs of up to 10 youth, helping facilitate age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional growth, skill building, self-esteem, leadership, and more. Leaders are tasked with ensuring the physical and emotional safety of participants, promoting an inclusive and respectful environment that embraces diversity for all youth, families, and staff. This role also requires collaboration with colleagues and supervisors to develop engaging culminating activities, maintain program attendance, and comply with all safety and emergency protocols. Participation in off-site field trips, required trainings, and ongoing professional development are also essential components of the position. This role offers excellent opportunities for those passionate about working with youth in an outdoor setting and enables participation in meaningful career development through upward mobility programs such as Lifecraft. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, energetic, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively while confidently presenting in training settings. This position reports directly to a Site Coordinator and has responsibilities tied closely to the mission and vision of Woodcraft Rangers, fostering a supportive and enriching atmosphere for all program participants.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- FBI and DOJ Livescan clearance
- TB Test clearance
- First Aid and CPR certification (provided by WR)
- work well with young children and/or youth
- good oral and written communication
- computer literacy and willingness to learn
- six months experience supervising a group of early education aged children in a school or recreational setting or six units in early education or child development
- must successfully pass an assessment test evaluating skills in math, reading comprehension, and spelling
- for ABC Unified School District (Cerritos) candidates only - 48+ college units or ABC Unified Paraeducator Test completion

Job Duties
- Ensure students are always in a safe environment (physical and emotional)
- promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity for all program participants, staff, and families
- develop and lead age-appropriate program activities that are fun, engaging and aligned with whole-child approach (social emotional learning, skill building, self-esteem, leadership, etc.)
- monitor participant attendance and engagement to ensure participants are present and actively engaged in program activities
- build positive relationships with program participants, colleagues, and all stakeholders
- collaborate with colleagues and supervisor to develop culminating activities or events that showcase all participants work and accomplishments
- request required materials in a timely manner so Site Coordinator can ensure materials are available when needed and within budget
- comply with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols, including, up to date on all trainings and required certifications
- may be required to attend off-site field trips
- participate in staff development training, as required, approximately 15 hours spread out over multiple weekends/intersessional days throughout the spring
- junior Rangers Leaders are accountable to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager for assigned duties
- other related duties as assigned
