Job Description
The Washington Athletic Club (WAC), established in 1930 and located in the heart of downtown Seattle, is one of the nation’s premier private athletic clubs and a well-known Seattle institution. The club is currently seeking a Junior Programming & Event Administrator to play a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences to its younger members. This position is perfectly suited for an outgoing, energetic individual who enjoys working with children and engaging with their parents in a friendly, fast-paced social environment. The Junior Programming & Event Administrator is responsible both for hands-on event leadership and administrative coordination, requiring professionalism, strong communication skills, and flexibility. This role demands a vibrant personality and positive attitude, as many of the technical skills needed can be taught, but genuine energy and member-focused engagement are inherent qualities.
In this role, the Junior Programming & Event Administrator will lead and support a variety of junior events including social programs, sports activities, themed celebrations, and seasonal events. They will serve as the on-site point person for junior programming, ensuring that activities run smoothly, safely, and in line with the club’s high standards. This role also encompasses planning and leading fall junior camps which include developing engaging activities, managing groups of children, and consistently communicating with parents. Creativity is highly valued, as the candidate will be expected to brainstorm new event ideas and see them through from concept to execution.
Key responsibilities also include confidently interacting with children and parents to foster a welcoming atmosphere, providing public speaking support during events, and conducting all administrative tasks related to junior programs such as registration, attendance tracking, communication, and documentation. Proficiency in Excel is essential for managing rosters, schedules, reporting, and program tracking. Collaboration with other members of the Programming & Events team is necessary to continuously improve junior member experiences. Representing the club professionally with a commitment to exceptional service and hospitality is a core expectation.
This is a flexible part-time position with a pay rate of $32.00 per hour. The work schedule varies seasonally and includes availability for evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the programming calendar. Additional hours may be required during peak junior programming times. The working environment is dynamic and social, requiring a professional yet warm demeanor attuned to the needs of members and their families. Job Requirements
- Must have a flexible schedule including availability for evenings and weekends as needed
- schedule will vary seasonally and may be Monday Friday or Tuesday Saturday depending on programming needs
- additional hours may be required during peak junior programming periods
Job Qualifications
- Strong extroverted personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- demonstrated ability to work with children in group settings
- comfortable speaking to groups and interacting with parents and members
- proficiency in Excel calendar coordination and general administrative tasks
- experience in youth programming recreation camps hospitality or events is preferred
- strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- professional demeanor appropriate for a private club environment
Job Duties
