Job Description

The Market Place is a wellness-focused juice bar deeply rooted in local community values and committed to providing real food crafted by real people. This establishment prides itself on a menu that features cold-pressed juices, High Pressure Processing (HPP) blends, smoothies, acai and grain bowls, wellness shots, functional tonics, and much more, all made predominantly with locally sourced ingredients. Distinct from franchises, The Market Place embraces its identity as a neighborhood staple, offering products designed to nurture health and foster community connections. Located in Englewood, NJ, this juice bar champions authenticity, quality, and wellness through every item on their menu.

The role of Juice Bar Prep Cook at The Market Place is a vital position that supports the heart of the daily beverage operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this full-time position requires approximately 35 to 40 hours per week primarily during morning and mid-day shifts. Compensation ranges from $17 to $19 per hour, with additional tips, acknowledging the importance of experience and dedication to the craft. This role not only demands skill in preparing high-volume cold-pressed juices, smoothies, nut milks, and wellness shots but also a commitment to maintaining product quality, consistency, and a hygienic work environment.

Juice Bar Prep Cooks are essential team members who operate juicing equipment including cold-press, centrifugal, and masticating juicers to produce daily juice batches. The position involves preparing and portioning fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs accurately following recipe cards to ensure consistency. Staff in this role also manage ingredient inventory, applying the First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory rotation method to preserve freshness while minimizing waste. Cleaning and sanitizing equipment between production runs uphold the highest safety and hygiene standards. Collaboration is key, as the prep cook works closely with front-of-house personnel to meet production targets and supports receiving and inspecting produce deliveries for quality.

Candidates must bring at least one year of hands-on experience in a juice bar or cold-press production environment and demonstrate familiarity with various juicing equipment and high-volume beverage preparation. A valid New Jersey ServSafe Food Handlers Certification is a prerequisite to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Physical stamina is necessary, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds. Reliable availability for mornings, weekends, and some holidays is essential, alongside a detail-oriented mindset to maintain recipe consistency and product excellence.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of functional and wellness ingredients like adaptogens, superfoods, and probiotics, experience working in health-focused food or beverage establishments, and a basic understanding of nutritional principles and allergen management. The Market Place offers benefits such as dental and vision insurance eligibility after six months, paid wellness education as a valuable perk, and a clear career growth path leading to roles like Lead Crew and Bar Manager for standout employees.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about wellness and community-driven food experiences to contribute meaningfully and grow within a supportive and authentic environment. To apply, candidates are invited to send a brief introduction along with their relevant experience to the provided contact email or apply through available listings. With a strong focus on product integrity, exceptional customer engagement, and team collaboration, The Market Place seeks a prep cook who shares their dedication to health, consistency, and community impact.
