SPA is currently seeking a highly skilled Joint Training and Exercise Planner to support the HQ USSPACECOM Joint Exercise Division. This full-time role offers a salary range of $115,000 to $135,000 annually commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Joint Training and Exercise Planner will play a pivotal role in managing the entire lifecycle of USSPACECOM Tier 1 and Tier 2 joint exercises including planning, development, execution, and post-event analysis. The role demands expertise in coordinating multi-agency joint exercises, managing complex schedules across fiscal years, and conducting intelligence planning and Joint Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (JIPOE). Additionally, the planner will develop and maintain policies and procedures for joint exercise execution and ensure synchronization of efforts through conferences and scenario development activities. The position also involves supporting Integrated Mission Area Training (IMAT) activities to validate operations centers on critical missions, augmenting Joint Event Control Groups during exercises and real-world event preparation, as well as assisting in the design and conduct of high-level training events such as CJCS Staff Assessment Visits. Successful candidates will contribute to providing after-action reviews, recommending improvements, preparing hotwash briefings, and delivering formal after-action reports that support continual training enhancements. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility and a demonstrated ability to independently perform complex task functions with accuracy and efficiency. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 7 to 9 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in joint exercise policy and procedure development
  • Strong intelligence planning skills
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Effective communication and coordination skills
  • Prior military experience preferred
  • Knowledge of space and joint operations

Job Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance at time of application with SAP Eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience
  • or Master’s degree and 7 years of experience
  • Expertise in policy and procedure development for planning, coordinating, preparing, and implementing USSPACECOM Joint Exercises and other Combatant Command exercises
  • Ability to perform all task functions independently and accurately
  • Prior military experience preferred
  • Experience with military operations, exercise planning and policies
  • Experience in space operations, joint operations, and working with operational centers

Job Duties

  • Develop and manage the joint exercise life cycle for HQ USSPACECOM Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises including planning, development, execution, and analysis
  • Perform intelligence planning and Joint Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment in support of campaign, deliberate, and crisis action planning
  • Support policy and procedure development for planning, coordinating, preparing, and implementing USSPACECOM Joint Exercises and other Combatant Command exercises
  • Maintain an exercise Outlook calendar for USSPACECOM incorporating all exercises supported
  • Attend Command working group and informational meetings as assigned
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and support for conferences including CDC, IPC, MPC, FPC, and MSEL Synchronization Conference
  • Provide Integrated Mission Area Training development support to assess and validate operations centers on critical missions
