The role of a restaurant server at Crowne Plaza Lansing is pivotal in maintaining the hotel’s high standards of service within its vibrant dining environment. This position is primarily responsible for attending to guests by taking orders accurately, serving food and beverages promptly, and ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience. Shifts typically run from approximately 6 AM to 2 PM, accommodating both early breakfast service and brunch. Job Requirements

Must be at the minimum age to serve alcohol in line with any local legislative requirements
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings
Comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for safe and effective hotel operations
Physical ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and maneuver carts or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally
Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours
Ability to maneuver between tables and in tight spaces
Ability to position self to fulfill cleaning tasks

Job Qualifications

A high school or equivalent education is preferred
Minimum of six months of prior food service experience is preferred
Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling or serving of alcohol, including taking and passing the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam
Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware, as well as knowledge of all menu items and methods of preparation
Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills
Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace
Basic reading, writing, and math
Ability to navigate necessary software and applications
Ability to engage with guests and colleagues

Job Duties

Take guest orders and serve food and beverages using established Hotel standards
Complete all IHG and Hotel training
Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease
Check identification of guests appearing to be under 40 years of age
Notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests
Clean and maintain workspace
Perform pre- and post- shift duties such as cleaning and stocking
Clean and maintain workspace including tables, walls, windows, floors, and in-room dining carts
Engage with guests and colleagues using D.A.R.E. to Connect behaviors
Follow hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times. Immediately report any safety/service incident to the Restaurant Manager or the Person In Charge (PIC)
Additional duties as necessary and assigned
