Job Description

Peaster Independent School District is committed to providing quality education and fostering a nurturing environment for students. The district includes several campuses, each dedicated to supporting student growth and academic success. Peaster Junior High and Peaster High School are key components of the district, offering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where staff members play vital roles in creating a safe and effective learning environment. Both campuses emphasize a commitment to student achievement, safety, and community involvement, supporting students through structured programs and engaging activities. The district values professionalism, effective communication, and teamwork among its staff to ensure that each student receives the assistance and guidance necessary for their success.

The Campus Receptionist position at Peaster Junior High is a part-time role, classified as nonexempt, and reports directly to the campus principal. This half-day position provides essential reception and clerical support to enable the smooth operation of the campus office. The receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and parents, managing communications and administrative tasks efficiently. Responsibilities include answering and directing multi-line telephone calls, greeting visitors, maintaining visitor logs, and managing student check-ins and check-outs. The receptionist also assists with distributing student materials, preparing identification cards and passes, and handling mail and documents.

This role requires proficiency in keyboarding, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to operate office equipment, including multi-line phone systems. The position demands professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to follow instructions closely. The receptionist must manage frequent interruptions while maintaining composure and efficiency.

The In-School Suspension (ISS) Aide role at Peaster High School is also a half-day, nonexempt position under the supervision of the campus principal and certified teachers. This position focuses on supervising students assigned to ISS due to disciplinary reasons, maintaining a structured and orderly environment, and supporting instructional activities. The ISS Aide works closely with classroom teachers and administrators to help manage student behavior, administer discipline according to district policies, and assist students in completing assignments.

A high school diploma or GED is essential for this role, with additional qualifications such as educational aide certification or college coursework preferred. Experience working with children and supporting instructional activities is valuable. The ISS Aide must demonstrate patience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The role involves managing student behavior in a setting that requires adherence to Individual Education Plans (IEP) and safety protocols.

Both positions require dedication to the educational mission of Peaster ISD and a commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and productive campus atmosphere. These roles provide important support to the daily functions of the schools and contribute significantly to the well-being and academic progress of students.
