Job Description
Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) is a dedicated organization committed to creating an inclusive world where people with differing abilities can live more independent and purposeful lives through appropriate guidance, support, and opportunities. As a respected non-profit entity, BDI specializes in providing employment and life-enhancing services to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to succeed both professionally and personally. The institute collaborates with various organizations and agencies, including federal AbilityOne contracts, to offer meaningful employment opportunities that align with the needs and capabilities of the workforce it serves. Their mission is deeply rooted in fostering independence, promoting dignity, and enhancing the quality of life for all participants, reflecting a compassionate and socially responsible approach that benefits the wider community.
The Janitorial Worker role at Bobby Dodd Institute is a vital position within the custodial team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in designated work areas to meet contract specifications. This role is part of a federal AbilityOne contract, which emphasizes providing work opportunities to individuals with disabilities; thus, applicants for this position must possess a disability to comply with program requirements. Working under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the janitorial team member handles a range of cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing bathrooms and offices. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety while adhering to specified cleaning protocols.
Due to the nature of the contract, the position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. The janitorial worker must be physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 pounds, as well as standing, walking, climbing, and bending as necessary for thorough cleaning activities. The ability to follow instructions, cooperate with team members, and communicate effectively with supervisors is also essential.
This opportunity offers a supportive work environment where employees can contribute meaningfully while developing new skills and gaining valuable experience in custodial services. The role is ideal for individuals seeking a structured work setting with clear responsibilities and the chance to be part of an inclusive organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities.
