The role of Janitor (Mantenimiento) at Sedano's Supermarkets is a part-time position offering flexible shifts in the morning or afternoon, designed to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the store and its exterior areas. This position is vital to the overall shopping experience, ensuring that the store remains inviting and hazard-free at all times. The Janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors to remove any slippery or sticky substances. A significant part of the role involves maintaining the cleanliness and stocking of restrooms, including unclogging sinks and toilets, and replenishing essential supplies like toilet paper and hand soap. The Janitor also regularly inspects the store to clear aisles of obstructions, ensure adherence to fire codes, and promptly address any safety hazards.

In addition to routine cleaning, the Janitor will be tasked with keeping the store’s backroom storage organized, managing inventories of cleaning and maintenance supplies, and ensuring the janitorial cart is always stocked and ready. Safety is a top priority, requiring immediate action to address spills or other dangers to prevent accidents. The Janitor also provides excellent customer service, interacting politely with customers and assisting them as needed. The job requires punctuality and adherence to company policies, with expectations of a friendly attitude and proper uniform compliance. Job Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
minimum of 18 years of age

Job Duties

Keep the floors clean by sweeping, mopping or scrubbing them thoroughly
remove slippery, gummy or sticky substances from floors as needed
gather trash and garbage from entire store and front sidewalk as needed replacing with an empty trash/garbage bag
place all trash into the dumpster behind the store
service, clean and stock supplies in all bathrooms
routinely walk the store during scheduled shift to ensure floors are clean and no safety hazards
clear aisles of any obstructions
observe fire codes
alert management of any possible safety hazards
routinely and thoroughly clean the tables and surrounding areas in the store cafe and bakery
maintain backroom storage area of job-related supplies neat and orderly
keep an inventory of job-related supplies and notify manager to order supplies and equipment
keep janitorial cart organized and supplied with needed products, equipment and tools
notify management when using cleaning items from the shelf for store use
keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards
immediately attend to spills on the floor isolating the area from customers and thoroughly cleaning the floor
politely greet and interact with customers with a smile providing excellent customer service
notify manager immediately if hazardous situations occur
notify manager concerning the need for major repairs
attend and participate in store or department meetings
perform other work-related duties as required
maintain punctuality and good attendance
