Job Description
The hiring company is a Distribution Center known for its commitment to maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workplace in line with industry standards, safety regulations, and rigorous housekeeping policies. The establishment operates with a primary objective of ensuring that all warehouse and office areas, break rooms, restrooms, docks, and shared spaces uphold a level of cleanliness that supports the health and safety of its employees. This Distribution Center emphasizes timely and effective cleaning procedures to facilitate a smooth and efficient working environment, reflective of its dedication to operational excellence and worker well-being.
This role is a Warehouse Custodian position, designed to uphold the cleanliness and sanitation standards within the Distribution Center. It requires a conscientious professional who will be responsible for routine cleaning and sanitization tasks across various facility zones. With a starting pay rate of $20.00/hour, escalating up to $21.50 depending on experience and performance, the position offers stable employment within both AM and PM shifts, Monday through Friday. This schedule supports a balanced work-life integration while providing consistent hours for those seeking dependable employment.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and prompt spill cleanup to maintain safe conditions. They will manage trash disposal and recycling efforts, keep restrooms clean and well stocked, and attend to the cleanliness of walls, windows, doors, and railings. Operating cleaning machinery like floor scrubbers, buffers, wet/dry vacuums, and pressure washers safely and effectively is also a crucial aspect of the job. Knowledge and careful use of cleaning chemicals following safety protocols is mandatory.
The role demands adherence to the Distribution Center Housekeeping and Safety Policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). The custodian will monitor the environment for maintenance issues or safety hazards and will promptly report these to management. Participation in special cleaning projects like deep cleaning, audits, or facility inspections is also part of the responsibilities. This position requires a dedicated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a keen eye for detail and consistency in routine tasks.
Candidates are expected to have at least a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent related experience or training. An ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, including adapting communication to a voice picking system, is necessary. Basic math skills and common sense reasoning to follow instructions and standardized procedures are essential. The role involves physical demands such as standing, walking, handling materials, kneeling, and lifting up to 60 pounds frequently, with capacity to move products over 1,000 pounds using appropriate equipment.
Environmental conditions involve working with loud noise and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, necessitating vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines. Specific vision abilities including close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment are required to perform the job safely and effectively.
