Job Description
CCS Facility Services is recognized as one of the largest and most respected building service contractors in the United States. With years of experience and a wide-reaching presence, CCS provides expert janitorial and facility engineering services to thousands of commercial businesses nationwide. The company prides itself on its deep bench of experienced cleaning and engineering professionals who are dedicated to maintaining and improving the environments of offices, apartment buildings, and other commercial and institutional buildings. CCS operates with a guiding principle known as the Service Heart, emphasizing a culture built to serve others with passion, ensuring they consistently exceed customer expectations. This culture extends to their employees, who are valued, recognized, and promoted from within, creating a community of dedicated and passionate colleagues united by this Service Heart.
The role of a Day Porter at CCS Facility Services is an essential part of their operations, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas in various types of buildings. This includes office buildings, apartment houses, and institutional facilities. The Day Porter is tasked with a range of cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure these shared spaces are welcoming, safe, and well-maintained throughout the day. This role demands attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to building maintenance.
The Day Porter’s responsibilities are diverse and include tasks such as spot cleaning lobby glass doors, polishing chrome on lobby entrances, vacuuming elevator cabs, and wiping down surfaces multiple times a day. They inspect the building exterior for trash, clean ashtrays and sand urns on all floors, and ensure exterior trash receptacles are emptied and cleaned. Regular restroom checks twice daily and vacuuming of the lobby are standard parts of the job, as is sweeping stairwells and landings as needed.
Beyond these specific tasks, the Day Porter also helps maintain the aesthetics and safety of the property by removing debris from landscaped areas, sweeping building entrances, removing marks and smudges from walls and doors, and reporting any lighting issues or solicitors to the management office. Policing the lobby during high-traffic times to keep floors and planters free of debris, dust mopping lobby floors, and polishing elevator cab railings and call buttons are among the duties that ensure a polished and professional environment.
An important aspect of the Day Porter role is its supportive relationship with building engineers, assisting them daily as needed under management discretion. The position requires a commitment to punctuality, dependability, and safety, with employees expected to follow instructions closely, take responsibility for their actions, and maintain high standards of safety and security. The work environment can occasionally involve exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, outdoor conditions, and other potential hazards; however, safety is a top priority and proper procedures are emphasized.
CCS Facility Services offers a work culture that invests in people, values community, and fosters growth from within, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about maintaining safe, clean, and attractive environments. The Day Porter position is a key role that supports this mission by ensuring that buildings remain inviting, safe, and well-kept for tenants, employees, and visitors alike.
