The Restaurant Manager plays a pivotal role in the overall operation of a Jack in the Box restaurant unit. Reporting directly to the District Manager, this leadership position involves full accountability for the restaurant’s operational performance, adherence to service standards, and financial outcomes within the assigned location. The manager oversees functions related to team recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluation, ensuring the delivery of excellent internal and external customer service consistent with the Brand Promise and Service Profit Chain (SPC) principles. A key responsibility of the role includes motivating and inspiring employees to contribute effectively to the restaurant’s sales growth and profitability while upholding compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

In addition to staff management, the Restaurant Manager ensures that all aspects of restaurant operations—from food quality and guest interaction to cleanliness and safety—are meticulously maintained to support a positive brand image. Daily activities involve managing service delivery processes, responding professionally to guest concerns, and continuously reviewing practices to enhance the overall customer experience. The position demands the use of management information systems to monitor operational metrics such as sales performance and cost control, facilitating data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1+ years experience as an Associate Manager and/or 2 years as a First Assistant Manager for internal promote
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing a service concept with full P&L responsibility for external recruits
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must complete Restaurant Manager training classes
  • Must be ServSafe certified
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform and understand basic math concepts
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Proficient knowledge of personal computers and related software
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and use personal vehicle
  • Ability to stand and walk 85-95% of shift
  • Ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs
  • Ability to move freely throughout the restaurant
  • Ability to operate restaurant equipment and drive a motor vehicle
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Recruit, select, train, develop, and evaluate restaurant employees
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure sufficient development and talent
  • Ensure training systems for employees on workstations are fully implemented
  • Identify and develop internal candidates for management and team leader positions
  • Manage daily activities to achieve excellence in restaurant operational performance
  • Provide exceptional guest service and ensure food quality
  • Respond to guest concerns and complaints timely and professionally
  • Utilize management information tools to analyze restaurant operational and financial performance
  • Identify trends and implement action plans for improvement
  • Monitor costs and adherence to budget and restaurant goals
  • Create a restaurant environment that is employee friendly, fun, clean and safe
  • Motivate and inspire employees to achieve high performance
  • Comply with all state and federal labor laws and regulations
  • Serve as a role model for excellent guest service
  • Maintain the brand image of restaurant cleanliness, maintenance, and service
