The position available at Leidos in Indianapolis, Indiana, is for an IT Specialist to join the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) portion of the broader SMIT MCEN program, the largest IT services initiative for the U.S. Navy. This specialist role plays a crucial part in supporting the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet backbone, providing essential cybersecurity services, network operation management, service desk support, and data transport capabilities. By unifying the Navy's shore-based networks and data management practices, Leidos aims to significantly increase operational capability while optimizing cost-efficiency by consolidating efforts into a single enterprise network.

This IT Specialist role demands advanced expertise in systems installation, operation, integration, and troubleshooting to maintain peak IT system performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and supervising IT system upgrades and new installations, ensuring close collaboration with cybersecurity specialists to maintain network security standards. The position requires performing Tier III network and storage system upgrades and engaging in Tier III troubleshooting and performance optimization of critical network services such as Internet Protocol (IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and routing protocols.

The IT Specialist also integrates and sustains enterprise, regional, and local IT systems and oversees recovery operations as necessary, ensuring continuous network operations. This is a highly technical role that involves managing complex networking environments and contributes directly to mission-critical naval IT infrastructure. The pay range for the role is between $36 and $42 per hour, reflective of the responsibilities and the candidate's experience, skills, and certifications. This role is vital for maintaining secure, efficient, and seamlessly integrated IT operations for the Navy.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Four years of experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • DoD IAT Level II certification
  • Must possess an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) network support certification
  • Must possess an Operating System (OS)/Application certification

Job Duties

  • Design and oversee upgrades and new installs of IT systems and services ensuring coordination with Cyber Security Specialist
  • Perform Tier III upgrades of networking systems, IT systems, and storage networking
  • Perform Tier III troubleshooting, optimization, and performance management of Internet Protocol (IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and routing protocols
  • Integrate enterprise, regional, and local IT systems ensuring current network operations are sustained or oversee their recovery
