The open role is a Project Manager position responsible for overseeing multiple projects to meet the business requirements efficiently and effectively. The Project Manager will facilitate the requirements gathering process, define project objectives and goals, develop detailed project plans including timelines, resource allocations, risk mitigation strategies, and budgets. They will coordinate project activities across various internal departments and external partners, including outsourced third parties, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.

The Project Manager will manage the project budget, including human, capital, and operational resources, to drive successful project completion. Utilizing Johnstone’s proven project management methodology and various internal tools such as Microsoft Project, Monday.com, Jira Software, Service Desk, and Confluence, the manager will track the project progress, manage risks, and escalate issues as necessary. Communication is a crucial aspect of this role, where the Project Manager will keep stakeholders informed by providing up-to-date project status reports and handling escalations that may arise.

The role also includes conducting retrospective reviews after project completions to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities. In addition, the Project Manager will contribute to improving business processes by applying Johnstone’s Lean program principles to identify and manage process improvement projects. Ensuring departmental processes are properly documented, communicated, and adhered to is also part of the job scope. The Project Manager may be asked to handle special projects as assigned by their supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience managing software development or implementation projects
  • Experience managing software discovery or selection projects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and external partners

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT project management methodologies and lifecycles
  • Previous experience managing software development or software implementation projects
  • Previous experience managing at least one software discovery or software selection project
  • Ability to apply project management skills including establishing objectives, timelines, and deadlines
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills including listening, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others
  • Ability to apply organization skills, developing and using systems for organizing information and prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and build relationships
  • Ability to effectively interact with third party partners and customers
  • Ability to communicate information across individuals, departments, and external parties including presenting to leadership

Job Duties

  • Plan and direct multiple projects to meet business requirements by facilitating requirements processes, defining project scope and goals, developing project plans, timelines, resource requirements, risk mitigation plans, and budgets
  • Coordinate project activities and tasks across internal and external resources, including outsourced third parties, to ensure delivery of project objectives on time and within budget
  • Manage the project budget in terms of human and capital/operating resources needed to successfully complete projects
  • Utilize Johnstone’s Project Management methodology and internally supported tools such as Microsoft Project, Monday.com, Jira Software, Service Desk, and Confluence to manage and monitor project progress
  • Manage project risks, escalation, issues, and activity progress to ensure project goals such as deadline, scope and quality are achieved
  • Provide stakeholders including members, suppliers, and internal staff with up-to-date information on project status and relevant issues
  • Provide regular project status reporting to Project Sponsors, IT Portfolio Management and the E-PMO
  • Lead retrospective lessons learned activities post project completion to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assist in improving business processes using Johnstone’s Lean Program approach and manage process improvement projects
  • Ensure department processes are documented, communicated, and consistently adhered to
  • Perform special projects as assigned by supervisor
