Job Description

Operation Technology Solutions (OTS) is a critical division within Amazon Operations, dedicated to providing unparalleled IT support and solutions to some of the most complex and large-scale logistics and fulfillment operations in the world. OTS offers 24x7 global IT support across key operational areas including Fulfillment, Sortation, Logistics, and Last Mile delivery. The team also supports critical technology platforms such as Amazon Fulfillment Technologies, OpsTech Infrastructure Engineering, Amazon Robotics, Amazon Warehouse Control Systems, and Amazon Lockers. Internal customers include human associates, robotic systems, and mechanical equipment relying on mobile computing devices, thin clients, integrated computers, and PCs running multiple operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Android. These technologies facilitate the efficient movement of ecommerce items from suppliers into fulfillment centers, and ultimately to customers worldwide.

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package for this leadership role, including a salary range between $116,800 and $160,000 annually based in Salinas, California. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of developing a team of technical professionals across multiple locations experience
  • bachelor’s degree, or 4+ years of professional or military experience
  • knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration
  • experience in IT client, server, and network service delivery
  • experience working with stakeholders to communicate issues while balancing business expectations
  • leadership experience in a 24x7 operation supporting physical IT infrastructure (compute, network, storage).

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of developing a team of technical professionals across multiple locations experience
  • bachelor’s degree, or 4+ years of professional or military experience
  • knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration
  • experience in IT client, server, and network service delivery
  • experience working with stakeholders to communicate issues while balancing business expectations
  • leadership experience in a 24x7 operation supporting physical IT infrastructure (compute, network, storage)
  • knowledge of hardware architectures
  • experience with system management tools and client/server environments
  • bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Information Systems, or other related discipline
  • experience in making data driven business decisions
  • experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
  • experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, or asset management
  • experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • ability to thrive in an ambiguous and fast-paced IT environment and capable of motivating teams
  • proven skills in leadership development and team building.

Job Duties

  • Inclusively hire, train, and develop a team of IT professionals
  • support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all associates
  • interact with management and staff to provide technical assistance for continuous improvement of IT solutions
  • establish and maintain a positive, productive relationship with operational partners and staff
  • lead infrastructure builds in new facilities
  • plan, organize, schedule, and supervise the day-to-day technical support activities, including troubleshooting, customer service issues, approvals, and installations
  • measure, monitor, and maintain team’s ability to meet or exceed contact and resolution Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • develop and maintain policies, procedures, and processes
  • oversee management of equipment and parts inventory
  • create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs
  • travel up to 30%.
