Job Description
Paws Up Montana is America’s premier luxury ranch resort, set on a breathtaking 37,000-acre ranch in the heart of Montana. As a family-owned and award-winning destination, Paws Up embodies the spirit of the American West with a unique blend of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and unparalleled guest service. The resort offers guests a chance to disconnect from the everyday and immerse themselves in an extraordinary wilderness experience that combines luxury accommodations with authentic Montana hospitality and adventure-filled activities. Whether it’s horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, or simply enjoying the serene landscape, Paws Up curates moments that inspire guests to be ‘more alive.’ This seasonal role, available from April to October, offers not just a job, but a lifestyle that integrates the love of the outdoors with world-class hospitality in a remote, pristine setting.
The Island Lodge Butler at Paws Up Montana carries a vital role that goes far beyond traditional serving. Positioned at the Island Lodge on Salmon Lake, the Island Butler is the face of this iconic wilderness experience and holds responsibility for creating intimate and memorable engagements with guests. This role blends a variety of dynamic responsibilities such as greeting guests, managing food and beverage service, bartending, coordinating with multiple resort departments, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Island Lodge’s facilities. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on multitasking, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional guest service with a warm and adventurous spirit.
The Island Butler is a host, a problem-solver, a liaison, and a true ambassador of the Montana lifestyle. They will be managing guest interactions from arrival through departure, providing tours, serving meals, assisting with meal prep and cleanup, managing inventory, and maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of guest areas. Importantly, this position requires confidence, clear communication skills, physical stamina, and the willingness to take on diverse tasks—from building campfires and facilitating s’mores to using technology like Microsoft Teams to coordinate service requests. Employees at Paws Up are known for their self-motivation and team-oriented mindset, contributing to a workplace culture that values hard work, genuine guest connections, and a shared passion for the outdoors.
Paws Up’s seasonal team members receive a range of benefits that support their professional growth and well-being, including career development opportunities, employee assistance programs, referral bonuses, carpool reimbursement, employee discounts, and provided meals. Housing options may also be available on-site, reinforcing the sense of community and convenience for seasonal staff. The culture at Paws Up is fast-paced and guest-focused; it demands enthusiasm, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Those who flourish in this role embrace the unpredictability of wilderness resort life and find joy in crafting once-in-a-lifetime guest experiences while forming lasting bonds with their teammates.
This position is not suited for individuals looking for a low-effort seasonal job or those averse to physical labor and outdoor activity. The Island Butler role invites spirited hospitality professionals who are eager to dive into a challenging, rewarding, and unique environment, where no two days are the same and every moment is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
