Job Description

Marukai Corporation, d.b.a Tokyo Central, is a renowned international Japan-based retailer that has been serving the US market since 1965. With decades of experience and multiple retail locations, Tokyo Central is committed to providing customers with a unique and authentic Japanese shopping experience. The company offers an extensive range of imported Japanese products including food, health products, cosmetics, home furnishings, electric appliances, stationery, clothing, pottery, and other specialty goods. After becoming part of the successful Pan Pacific International Holdings Corporation, Tokyo Central has expanded its brand and product offerings through Tokyo Central and Tokyo Central & Main branded stores. This expansion reflects the company's dedication to delivering the highest quality and value from Japan while maintaining the philosophy "The Customer Matters Most." Tokyo Central prioritizes customer satisfaction and strives to create a healthier and happier lifestyle for its customers with authentic products and superior service.

Tokyo Central Irvine is now expanding its operation hours for the famous hot buffet and is actively seeking part-time kitchen associates to join their team. These associates will work primarily from afternoon to evening shifts. The role focuses on preparing, processing, cooking, and packaging Delica items including hot meals, deli, and Japanese food. Kitchen associates are expected to follow recipes carefully, measure ingredients accurately, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and provide excellent customer service. Responsibilities also include maintaining back stock and cooler areas, ensuring the proper display and sale of food products, and fostering a positive team environment based on mutual respect and teamwork.

The position involves handling various kitchen equipment such as slicers, scales, knives, and wrappers with an emphasis on safety and sanitation. Associates will be trained to operate power-driven machinery and ensure compliance with food safety standards including maintaining cleanliness in the deli back room and food displays. Customer interaction is a key component, requiring associates to engage with customers by answering questions and recommending products while upholding Tokyo Central's standards for service, quality, and cleanliness. This part-time role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established company passionate about Japanese culture and cuisine, under safe and supportive working conditions. Candidates willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and who possess or are willing to obtain a California Food Handler's Certificate are encouraged to apply.
