The Interventional Radiology (IR) department at Lutheran Hospital is seeking to hire a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist or Lead Technologist to join its dynamic, fast-paced Angio Lab. This role is perfect for professionals passionate about advancing their skills in a specialized radiology environment. The technologist or lead will be actively involved in facilitating a variety of diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, utilizing cutting-edge imaging systems to produce high-quality images essential for patient diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include circulating, scrubbing, monitoring, and operating advanced IR equipment, all within a collaborative care team focused on patient safety and comfort.

Candidates may be considered for either a technologist or a lead role depending on their experience, certifications, and leadership abilities. The position offers regular full-time hours of 40 per week, primarily consisting of four 10-hour weekday shifts with additional call responsibilities. The hourly wage ranges from $35.60 to $54.93 for technologist roles, with lead technologists earning between $42.66 and $65.82 per hour based on experience.

Beyond operational tasks, the technologist is responsible for ensuring patient identification, preparation, and education, strictly adhering to radiation safety protocols and hospital policy to create a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff alike. This role demands an in-depth understanding of interventional supplies and their appropriate use in various procedures, as well as close collaboration with medical teams to maintain equipment functionality and accuracy in procedural documentation.

Job Requirements

associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field
current ARRT (R) certification
valid state licensure as a radiologic technologist
basic life support (BLS) certification
strong knowledge of vascular and cross-sectional anatomy
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ability to work four 10-hour weekday shifts plus call
commitment to patient safety and radiation safety protocols
capacity to maintain certifications including ACLS, RTRCV, and VIR as required
willingness to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment
for lead role: bachelor’s degree
minimum five years imaging experience
minimum two years leadership experience

Job Qualifications

graduate on an AMA-approved radiologic technology program
current ARRT (R) credential
demonstrated knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and abnormal variants
basic life support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
current ACLS certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
current RTRCV certification or the ability to obtain
current VIR certification or the ability to obtain within twenty-four (24) months of hire
previous experience as a staff technologist, preferred
at least one (1) year of experience in vascular/interventional imaging, preferred
for lead role: five years of imaging experience
two years of leadership experience
bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Job Duties

maintains up-to-date licensure and certifications required for position
provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to angio lab policies and procedures and scope of practice documents
understands and operates IR equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images are produced
ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam
adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff
develops specific knowledge about invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques
follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging guidelines, obtains necessary consents, maintains applicable quality control programs, and reports any equipment failures or problems
provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns
