Job Description
Charles Schwab is a well-established financial services company that focuses on providing a comprehensive range of investment and wealth management services to individual investors and institutions. Known for its client-first culture, Schwab fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and continuous development. As a financial services leader, Schwab provides opportunities for career growth and development with a strong emphasis on mentorship, training, and performance-driven rewards.
The position available is for an Investment Consultant (IC) within Schwab's Branch Network. This is a regular full-time employment opportunity, designed as a pivotal step toward becoming a Financial Consultant. The role is ideal for motivated individuals who are eager to learn, take initiative, and develop practical skills through hands-on experience. The Investment Consultant will engage in proactive client outreach, conducting needs-based conversations, and positioning appropriate financial solutions to meet client goals. This position also involves collaboration with seasoned Financial Consultants who offer coaching, mentoring, and real-time feedback to foster professional growth.
In this role, the candidate will develop essential consulting skills by applying active listening and thoughtful questioning techniques to align solutions with client objectives. Building relationship management capabilities is vital, as the consultant will provide timely and accurate client-focused support. Managing priorities efficiently across outreach, follow-up, and administrative work ensures smooth operations. A strong focus on resilience, motivation, and teamwork is key to achieving both individual and collective goals. Collaboration with branch leaders and Financial Consultants aims to enhance the overall client experience.
Schwab's training and development program includes Wealth Management University, a four-week live virtual program that establishes the foundational knowledge necessary for success. Continued development occurs through hands-on training, mentorship, and alignment with personal career goals. The Investment Consultant role offers a defined career progression pathway toward Financial Consultant positions, as well as the option to explore leadership, branch roles, and other service and support team opportunities within Schwab. Competitive compensation includes base pay along with bonus and incentive opportunities tied to individual performance.
Candidates are required to hold a valid and active FINRA Series 7 license and either currently hold or obtain the FINRA Series 66 (or Series 63/65) license along with Life & Health Insurance licenses. While relevant experience in financial services or similar client-facing, sales, or advisory environments is preferred, the role highly values motivation, adaptability, time management, influencing skills, and an entrepreneurial attitude. Ownership and persistence in goal achievement, growth mindset, flexibility, and excellent communication to build trust and guide client decisions are crucial skills.
Schwab supports a hybrid work and flexibility approach that balances workplace flexibility with opportunities for in-person collaboration. The company is dedicated to supporting employee growth and their well-being with competitive benefits including 401(k) plans with company match, employee stock purchase plans, paid vacation, volunteering time, sabbaticals, parental leave, family-building benefits, tuition reimbursement, as well as health, dental, and vision insurance.
