The Flow Inventory Associate position at CarMax plays a vital role in maintaining the company’s best-in-class vehicle inventory and enhancing the overall customer experience. This role involves working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are paramount. The Flow Inventory Associate is responsible for managing a variety of inventory-related tasks that ensure every vehicle meets CarMax’s rigorous quality standards before it reaches the customer. Key responsibilities include vehicle receiving and shipping, lot maintenance, merchandising, as well as uploading vehicle photos for the company’s online listings. This position requires the associate to handle vehicles safely, keep the display lots clean and organized, and prepare vehicles for customer returns and loaners.

In addition, the Flow Inventory Associate supports the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) standards by maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. The job demands physical stamina to lift items up to 50 pounds and the flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet CarMax driving standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Ability to read, interpret, and accurately transcribe data for inventory records
  • Completion of Inventory Associate workstation certifications and assigned trainings
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintain accurate inventory by following CarMax inventory processes
  • Receive and secure vehicles shipped to CarMax and prepare title packets for transfers
  • Perform lot maintenance and merchandising, ensuring display areas are clean and organized
  • Prep vehicles for customer returns and loaners, including washing and vacuuming
  • Execute photo station process for carmax.com listings
  • Drive vehicles on and off the lot for repairs, storage, and auction support
  • Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area
