Job Description

Banner Staffing Services (BSS) is a key division within Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in the United States, known for its commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care. Operating multiple facilities across various cities, including Greeley, Fort Collins, and Loveland in Colorado, Banner Health brings together a team of dedicated professionals to support patient care across diverse specialties and settings. Banner Staffing Services offers flexible, Registry/Per Diem employment opportunities that allow healthcare workers to gain valuable experience, maintain work-life balance, and enjoy competitive wages and comprehensive support resources. These positions serve as an excellent entry point into a rewarding career at Banner Health with pathways to full-time internal roles.

The current staffing assignment is for a Surgical Technologist, a pivotal role within the clinical care department. This position requires a skilled professional who supports surgical teams by preparing and managing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during operations. Surgical Technologists ensure that operating rooms run smoothly by anticipating the needs of surgeons, maintaining sterile environments through strict aseptic technique, and assisting with tasks that require manual dexterity and attention to detail. The shift for this role is Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing a structured work schedule. The employer values professionals committed to high-quality patient care and offers a work environment that supports professional growth, competitive wages, paid orientation, and numerous employee benefits such as wellness programs, retirement plans, and discounts.

As a Surgical Technologist employed via Banner Staffing Services, you will engage in essential functions including preparing surgical procedures by selecting the appropriate instruments and supplies, reviewing case carts, and ensuring readiness for all surgical cases. During surgery, you will pass instruments, manage tissue retraction, handle equipment, and uphold infection control standards by applying aseptic techniques consistently. Your role also encompasses participation in safety and compliance protocols such as sharps disposal, specimen handling, and time-out procedures, which contribute to overall patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. This position also involves assisting in operating room turnover, stocking, and cleaning to maintain a sterile and efficient workspace.

Ideal candidates typically hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent along with current basic life support certification. Registration with a State Regulatory Agency may be required depending on the location. Preference is given to those who have graduated from a certified school of surgical technology or possess relevant operating room experience. The role demands the ability to be conscientious, organized, and capable of maintaining composure during stressful and emergent situations. Candidates must demonstrate manual dexterity, professional decorum, and a commitment to staying current with new developments in surgical technology and practices. This role does not offer guaranteed hours or medical benefits, as it is a Registry/Per Diem position, but it provides valuable opportunities for growth and competitive wages in a respected healthcare system.
