The Special Procedures department at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is seeking a qualified Allied Health professional to join their team in a pivotal role. This role involves performing invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures while maintaining the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring, and x-ray equipment. The position requires a dynamic individual who can participate actively in the department’s daily functions, including serving as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist. The candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, preparing them for procedures, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and infection control protocols. In addition, this role demands excellent communication skills to liaise effectively between nurses, physicians, and administrative staff for seamless procedural coordination.

Job Requirements

  • ARRT (R) certification required
  • Cardiovascular Interventional (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated technical skills and expertise
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Good patient care practices
  • Understanding of growth and development needs
  • Ability to provide care suitable to patient's developmental stage
  • Experience with patients from newborn to geriatric
  • Good hearing, oral communication skills, visual acuity, motor coordination, manual dexterity
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs
  • Mobility to respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to work in awkward positions
  • Willingness to wear lead-lined apron for extended periods
  • Ability to handle exposure to radiation and infectious materials

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform all procedures within the Special Procedures section including invasive diagnostic, neurodiagnostic, interventional radiology, and neurointerventional procedures
  • Demonstrate competency and efficiency in the care and interaction with patients across all age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Operate technical equipment effectively and ensure quality assurance of imaging and film processing
  • Serve as liaison between floor nurses, unit secretaries, and attending physicians regarding orders, procedures, scheduling, and status updates
  • Assess patients, review charts and lab results, and manage procedural documentation in Radiant and Epic systems
  • Prepare patients for procedures and answer relevant questions within scope of practice
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols including radiation exposure, contrast administration, and infection control
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and manage billing charges for procedures
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory hospital training
  • Foster exceptional guest relations using communication techniques such as AIDET
  • Participate in clinical education of student technologists
  • Monitor quality of care through ongoing evaluation and participate in Performance Improvement projects
  • Contribute to achieving patient satisfaction goals by delivering timely and quality care
  • Promote teamwork and assist in multiple departmental areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
