Job Description

Tyson Foods is a globally recognized leader in the food production industry, specializing in protein-based products. Established over 80 years ago, Tyson Foods has grown to become one of the largest processors and marketers of chicken, beef, and pork in the world. The company is well known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, providing nutritious products to millions of consumers daily. Tyson Foods operates an extensive network of facilities, including processing plants, distribution centers, and corporate offices, staffed by a diverse workforce dedicated to upholding the company's values and mission.

This job opening is for the position of Interpreter, a vital role within Tyson Foods that focuses on facilitating clear and effective communication between individuals who do not speak the same language. The Interpreter will be responsible for converting spoken language from one form to another across various settings such as employment, training, orientation, meetings, human resources, health services, and other operational activities as assigned. The position requires strict adherence to confidentiality, as sensitive information may be conveyed during interactions. The Interpreter must be adaptable and willing to work in all environments within the facility, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder operational efficiency or employee engagement.

The role operates primarily from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturday shifts required rarely to cover absenteeism or fluctuating business needs. This schedule necessitates flexibility and readiness to support the organization as required. Candidates are expected to either have prior interpreter experience or demonstrate proficiency by passing an Interpreter Assessment with a score of 90 percent or higher. Preference is given to current team members certified under Tyson's interpreter program or those holding language certifications from academic institutions.

Strong verbal communication skills in both the candidate's dominant language and English are essential to succeed in this role. The Interpreter must be highly organized, capable of independent work with minimal supervision, and exhibit excellent decision-making and follow-up abilities. Basic computer and typing skills are preferred, as reference materials such as dictionaries and glossaries will be used to ensure accurate and concise translations. Moreover, the Interpreter must have a valid driver's license to attend external medical appointments as needed.

The Interpreter position reports directly to the Training Specialist and does not offer relocation assistance. Tyson Foods promotes equal employment opportunities and encourages diverse candidates to apply, emphasizing fairness and inclusion. The company values its employees by offering paid time off, 401(k) plans, and comprehensive health, life, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits. Employment with Tyson Foods entails commitment to safety, confidentiality, and professional integrity while contributing to a dynamic and supportive workplace culture.
