Job Description
Oakmont Management Group, based in Irvine, California, is a distinguished leader in the senior living industry, managing an extensive portfolio of communities under the Oakmont Senior Living and Ivy Living brands. With a presence across California, Nevada, and Hawaii, Oakmont Management Group serves thousands of seniors by providing compassionate, high-quality living environments tailored to meet their needs. The company emphasizes a culture of family and community, fostering meaningful relationships among team members, residents, and their families. Oakmont’s team members are carefully selected not only for their skills and experience but also for their genuine passion for working with the elderly. This dedication is reflected in the group’s commitment to excellence, where joy and laughter complement professional expectations, creating a rewarding and supportive atmosphere for all.
The Interim Traveling Executive Chef role at Oakmont Management Group plays a pivotal role in upholding culinary excellence across assigned communities. This position is designed to provide interim leadership for Executive Chef responsibilities, supporting daily culinary operations while maintaining the highest standards in food production, menu execution, and service. It requires extensive travel, often 95% or more, to various community locations based on operational needs, and flexibility is essential due to the frequent changes and extended time frames of assignments. This assignment-based interim role offers employment and compensation during active assignments only but serves as a pathway to securing a permanent community Executive Chef position.
As the Traveling Executive Chef, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing all culinary aspects within the communities they support, encompassing both back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) operations. This includes leading recruitment efforts to attract top culinary talent, ensuring a positive candidate experience during hiring and chef testing processes. The role also demands effective leadership in food production and service, engaging with marketing teams to enhance culinary offerings and successfully executing special onsite events. Leadership and mentoring of culinary staff to foster a thriving, positive workplace culture are also key components of the job. This dynamic role is ideal for culinary professionals with significant multi-site management experience who thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for delivering outstanding food service to a senior living community population.
The salary range for this role is between $80,000 and $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Eligible team members benefit from comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation and paid time off, financial savings plans with company match, and other supportive benefits designed to enhance work-life balance and career growth. The role demands strong communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities, along with experience in culinary software and ordering platforms. A commitment to maintaining health and safety standards, including compliance with COVID-19 protocols, is paramount. With significant opportunities for career advancement, relocation, and travel within this respected organization, the Interim Traveling Executive Chef position offers an exceptional platform for culinary professionals to grow their careers while making a meaningful impact on the communities they serve.
