Oakmont Management Group (OMG), headquartered in Irvine, California, stands as a leader in the senior living industry, managing a broad portfolio of communities throughout California, Nevada, and Hawaii under the Oakmont Senior Living and Ivy Living brands. Serving thousands of seniors, Oakmont is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where team members, residents, and their families experience a sense of belonging and community. The company is renowned for its commitment to excellence in service, backed by a culture of care, meaningful relationships, and a joyful workplace that values both professionalism and personal fulfillment. Oakmont’s team is carefully selected based on their skills, experience, and passionate dedication to working with seniors, embodying a family-like atmosphere infused with compassion and respect. With a focus on creating vibrant, engaging communities, Oakmont Management Group is recognized for its outstanding leadership and the quality of life it provides to its residents across multiple states.
The role of Interim Traveling Executive Chef is pivotal in maintaining the high culinary standards at Oakmont’s various assigned communities. This unique position demands a professional ready to undertake frequent travel, with up to 95% or more travel involved, moving between different locations primarily in Southern California and surrounding regions. As an interim role, the Traveling Executive Chef provides essential support by temporarily covering for permanent Executive Chefs during periods of absence or transition. This operational support includes overseeing culinary operations, managing food production, ensuring menu execution aligns with Oakmont’s high service standards, and organizing key culinary events. The position is assignment-based, with compensation applicable only during active assignment periods, offering a salary range between $80,000 and $85,000. Although primarily interim, this role is designed as a pathway toward securing a permanent Executive Chef position within a specific community.
Key responsibilities include leading recruitment efforts for both back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) culinary roles, ensuring an excellent candidate experience during hiring processes, and supporting chef testing when necessary. The Interim Traveling Executive Chef is expected to uphold Oakmont’s culinary culture by driving operational excellence, mentoring kitchen and service staff, and collaborating with marketing teams to enhance culinary program visibility and appeal. This role requires adaptability, as assignments may vary in length and location, and the chef must be flexible and readily available to meet the diverse needs of multiple communities.
This position suits experienced culinary professionals who are passionate about leadership in food service operations within the senior living sector. The candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of culinary practices, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and the ability to foster a positive work culture. Experience with culinary software and Microsoft Office Suite enhances operational effectiveness. Additionally, candidates should meet regulatory health and safety requirements, including passing a criminal background check and adhering to COVID-19 prevention protocols when needed.
OMG offers significant career growth potential, relocation, and travel opportunities within its growing network of communities. The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off including vacation, personal days, sick leave, and holidays; complimentary meals; company-paid life insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match; employee discounts; recognition programs; student loan refinancing options; pet insurance; employee assistance; and emergency financial support. Oakmont Management Group is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, welcoming diverse candidates who share the company’s commitment to senior care and culinary excellence.
