Job Description

RTX is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, uniting over 185,000 talented individuals with a shared purpose to solve complex global challenges. With a legacy of innovation and excellence, RTX operates through three market-leading businesses, offering unmatched capabilities and opportunities. The company invests heavily in research and development, pushing the boundaries of known science to develop cutting-edge technologies that connect and protect the world. Within RTX, Pratt & Whitney stands out as a global leader in the design, manufacture, and servicing of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems. With over a century of pioneering advancements in modern flight, Pratt & Whitney continues to shape the future of aerospace and defense with its commitment to quality and technological excellence.

Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Engine Center plays a critical role in the aerospace sector by ensuring that every aircraft engine meets the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability. At this FAA-regulated facility, quality is paramount, particularly because the engines serviced here are subject to strict federal aviation authority guidelines and continuous regulatory oversight. As an Engine Inspector at this facility, you will be entrusted with a vital responsibility: serving as the final line of defense in guaranteeing that each engine complies fully with technical data, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. Your careful inspections will involve a variety of tooling and precision measurement equipment to validate every engine component’s configuration.

This position is a 2nd shift role, operating Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm to 2:00 am, providing a unique opportunity for professionals who are adaptable to shift work in a dynamic aviation environment. The role is strictly onsite, reflecting the critical nature of hands-on inspection and direct involvement in the engine overhaul and assembly process. Because Pratt & Whitney's operations require high security and regulatory compliance, U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this role, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain essential systems related to this position.

In this role, you will be responsible for a broad range of inspection tasks, including completing detailed technical documentation such as Fits and Clearances, Engine Inspection Reports (EIR), and SAP records. You will review engine package documentation to ensure it is accurate and follows all compliance standards. Working collaboratively within a team environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence, you’ll contribute to meeting production and inspection goals vital to the facility’s success. This position offers the chance to grow your technical skills and contribute to the aerospace industry's evolution by ensuring that the engines enabling modern flight remain safe and reliable.

Pratt & Whitney supports its employees by offering comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, parental leave, a 401(k) plan with company match, flexible spending accounts, an employee assistance program, and an employee scholar program with no waiting period. The company grants generous paid time off, including vacation, personal sick days, unpaid days for unique circumstances, and paid government holidays. These benefits highlight the organization's commitment to work-life balance and employee well-being.

Overall, working as an Engine Inspector at Pratt & Whitney Columbus Engine Center means joining a visionary company dedicated to pushing the limits of aerospace technology while fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace. This role offers a meaningful career path for individuals passionate about aviation quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a high-tech, regulated environment.
