This hotel operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing consistent and reliable service to its guests. The role of the Housekeeping Inspector is vital within this hotel setting, assisting the Executive Housekeeper and Housekeeping Supervisor in coordinating and overseeing the cleaning of guest rooms and all public areas. This role involves management responsibilities, ensuring that the housekeeping department meets and exceeds the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. The Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for opening and closing the housekeeping department, preparing and managing room assignment reports for attendants, and assigning daily duties to the housekeeping staff. The position also requires creating strong working relationships with other hotel departments such as Maintenance, to communicate promptly about any issues requiring resolution.

Attention to detail is a critical component of this role, as the Housekeeping Inspector inspects rooms daily to verify standards are consistently met. They supervise the re-supplying of linen closets while also keeping detailed records of lost and found items. This role requires flexibility with working hours, including weekends and holidays, in alignment with the hotel's continuous operation. The Housekeeping Inspector is expected to handle interactions with both hotel employees and guests in a professional, friendly, and service-oriented manner, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to guest satisfaction and safety at all times.

Candidates for this position must be able to demonstrate timely and reliable attendance, effective time management skills, and strong communication capabilities. Experience is a key factor, with a minimum of two years in a housekeeping supervisory or leadership role preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required, as is a basic understanding of PC operations and the ability to learn property management software. Physical stamina is essential since the role requires frequent lifting and considerable time spent standing, walking, or bending. This position not only supports the functioning of the housekeeping team but also ensures that the hotel's public areas and guestrooms maintain impeccable cleanliness and safety standards necessary to ensure an enjoyable and secure stay for every guest.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years housekeeping supervisory / leadership role or related job experience
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • comprehension of English language
  • must be able to convey and relay ideas and information clearly and efficiently
  • basic PC knowledge and understanding of a Windows operating system
  • ability to be trained on the hotels property management system
  • May be required to move, lift, or push 50 pounds frequently or consistently
  • standing, walking or bending is required the majority of the shift
  • flexible hours including weekends and holidays are required
  • must be able to work well with others in a team environment
  • must be able to work in a supervised atmosphere, accept and understand coaching, counseling, instructions and/or feedback
  • neat and professional appearance is required
  • name tags and uniforms are required to be worn at all times

Job Duties

  • Open and close the housekeeping department as needed
  • prepare room assignment reports for room attendants
  • assign houseman their daily duties
  • create good working relationships and teamwork with all other departments
  • collect all room assignment reports and keys at the end of the day
  • make sure all floors are secure
  • ensure all staff has the proper tools to complete their duties
  • stay in constant communication with the Maintenance department to ensure all problems are corrected
  • make sure all standards are enforced in rooms and public areas for safety
  • check rooms daily to ensure all standards are achieved
  • help supervise the re-supplying of all linen closets
  • record all lost and found items
  • coordinate and communicate any follow-up items or problems to ensure guest satisfaction
  • help maintain all department cleaning logs as per hotel standards
  • handle all interactions with hotel employees and/or guests in a friendly, professional, service oriented manner
  • comply with hotel and brand standards to ensure the safety of all guests and employees
  • report to supervisor all maintenance equipment issues
  • report to supervisor any health, safety, or hazard issues
  • perform other duties and responsibilities as may be designated
